OC Register again turned to the people who know the Best of OC, the best to come up with their list of winners for the “2013 Best of OC, People’s Choice.” Dozens of retail, restaurant, and recreation spaces earned top spots in the six main categories: Arts & Entertainment, Food & Drink, Outdoors, Pets, Places, and Shopping & Services.
Naming the top three readers’ picks, plus offering a critic’s pick, they’ve created a guide to the city’s best and brightest.

And guess what? For the FOURTH consecutive year Star Motors placed a WIN in the ‘Best Auto Repair’ Category!

Specializing in luxury and European “motorcars,” ASE master certified technicians have more than 50 years of combined factory-trained experience.
The facility offers several rewards programs, one being the “Elite Car Care Club.” This program offers members savings of over $300 on prepaid services.
Star Motor’s online blog provides information on automotive maintenance and repair and keeps clients updated with what is happening at the shop.
Claim to fame: Founded in 1985, Star Motors began as a Mercedes-Benz repair shop in Laguna Niguel, and then expanded to working on BMW, Jaguar, Lexus, Porsche, Volkswagen, Audi and all other luxury vehicles All mechanics are ASE certified and have gone through extensive training – a minimum of 40 hours per year. “We can honestly say we have specialists for practically every make and model. Our technicians and service advisers are experts in European car diagnostics and are very good at figuring out complex problems,” said Emma Silvera, co-owner of Star Motors.
The facility’s new art gallery in its waiting room features works from local artists and occasionally brings people together for an evening of networking, wine tasting, appetizers and fun.
“We offer our clients fresh gourmet coffee and other refreshments in a clean, comfortable waiting area,” Silvera said. “If they need a ride somewhere, we have complimentary shuttle service and rental cars. We top it off with a hand carwash for every vehicle that comes in for a service or repair. We’re here to take care of people. It just so happens we’re fixing cars, too.” The staff offers complimentary loaner vehicles and towing as well.
Did you know? Star Motors is one of the few Green Station Certified auto-repair facilities in Orange County, according Silvera. “It’s important for us to do our part to protect the environment.”

As an ASE-certified technician, owner Chris Knuth has been involved in every aspect of auto repair since 1996.
“I’ve taken all the positive things I’ve learned from all the places I’ve worked and blended them into something unique at Star Motors,” Knuth said. His master certified technicians have more than 50 years’ combined factory-trained experience.
The shop is open weekdays (Saturdays by appointment), doing everything except body work – air conditioning, transmission service, tire repair and alignment and strut and suspension work. Star Motors is certified by the state as a “green” station, employing many practices to reduce chemical waste and pollution, and it is certified female- friendly by AskPatty.com.
