Star Motors’ Contribution to Breast Cancer Awareness Rocked!

A multiple award-winning, family-owned and operated small business, Star Motors recently joined with over 60 automotive shops across America to raise money for preventative research and put the Brakes on Breast Cancer with Free Brake month.

Star Motors Free Brake Month: Star Motors proudly supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October by participating in the Brakes for Breasts campaign fundraiser. You helped us recognize October as both Breast Cancer Awareness and Car Care Awareness Month. With your support, Star Motors raised $2,043 to put the Brakes on Breast Cancer! We donated 10% from your brake services to the Cleveland Clinic Breast Cancer Vaccine Research Fund.

The Brakes For Breasts Free Brake Month fundraiser was different from many breast cancer fundraising campaigns which ran during October because funds raised by these independently owned auto repair shops went directly to the Cleveland Clinic Breast Cancer Vaccine Fund in order to fund research of a vaccine that could lead to a cure for breast cancer, not just treatments for the disease.

In other words 100% of the proceeds went directly to the Cleveland Clinic and zero percent of these donated profits were lost to any type of marketing and administrative fees. Program founder, Leigh Anne Best, felt it important to create a program where the participating shops could raise money for an organization working on a breast cancer vaccine cure, allowing each shop (and its customers) to see the direct impact of all funds raised.

This year marked the third year for the Free Brake Month Breaks For Breasts fundraiser. It was launched in 2011 by two women, Leigh Anne Best of Mighty Auto Pro in Medina, OH and Laura Frank of Royal Car Care & Tire Center in Brunswick, OH. Of the past two years fundraising successes and this year’s enrollment jump, Leigh Anne Best announced at

“The third time is a charm! Our first year (2010), we raised $10k with 5 shops. In 2012 we asked our fellow independently-owned auto repair shop owners across the country to join our mission and we tripled participation while raising $33,000k. This year, we are 50 shops strong and have set a goal of $50K with 100% of their proceeds going to the Cleveland Clinic Breast Cancer Vaccine Fund.

Dedicated to premier service, customer education, and building community, Star Motors’ motto is: “Quality, Integrity, Value”. Star Motors is a multiple award-winning auto repair facility, including the OC Register’s People’s Choice for Best Auto Repair 4 years in a row.
