Filters in Your European Car That Need To Be Changed

Your European automobile’s filters do a lot to boost your engine’s performance and make sure that you always get the best gas mileage that you can. Dirty and clogged filters can impede your vehicle’s performance and actually damage engine parts and systems. Star Motors European can change your automobile filters when you need it. We are experts in European automobile maintenance and repair, and changing the filters is just one of the many services that we offer. Let’s talk about the filters in your Beemer, Benz, or other European make and model that need regular changing.

Two Air Filters

Your car, crossover, or SUV has two different air filters. There is one in the engine to clean the air that is pushed through to the combustion chamber, and there is one in the cabin to make sure that you are always breathing in clean and fresh air while you are operating your automobile. As you can imagine, dirt or contaminants in the combustion chamber can cause serious engine damage, which is why it’s important to have the engine air filter changed once a year at a maximum. If you drive 12,000 miles before you reach the annual milestone, change the engine air filter then.

The cabin air filter does not need to be changed as frequently, but if you noticed you’ve been getting sleepy behind the wheel lately, it could be that your cabin air filter is dirty and you are inhaling contaminants such as dirt, pollens, and engine exhaust. A general rule of thumb to change the cabin air filter is every 30,000 miles, but you can check your vehicle’s owner’s manual to see if the manufacturer recommends the cabin air filter be changed sooner than that.

The Fuel Filter

The fuel filter also needs to be changed every 30,000 miles. If you have not driven 30,000 miles after two years of enjoying your European automobile, it’s important that you change the fuel filter then. As with the engine air filter, the fuel filter makes sure that once the gasoline is pushed into the cylinders by the fuel injectors it is clean. Both diesel fuel and gasoline have a lot of natural sediment and dirt in them, the fuel filter makes sure to remove all of this before the fuel heads into the combustion chamber.

The Oil Filter

Finally, the oil filter is a filter that you really don’t need to worry about because it is changed automatically when we change your oil. This being said, it’s important that you have your oil changed every 3,000 miles or per your manufacturer’s recommendation to make sure that you always have clean and fresh motor oil lubricating your engine. Failing to do so can cause unnecessary engine damage to your European automobile.
